Committee to review intersection design

October 14, 2014 by editor Leave a Comment

Benicia Traffic, Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Committee will consider Thursday whether the intersection of Military West and West Seventh Street should be modified.

The panel will hear comments from the public and make recommendations to staff whether to begin a study of ways to improve safety and circulation at the intersection.

Also on the meeting’s agenda are similar examinations and opportunities for the public to weigh in on whether the intersection of West Fourth and West K streets should become an all-way stop and whether the Committee should rescind its recommendation to install a marked crosswalk and ramp on West K Street at West Seventh Street.

The Committee will hear city employees’ status reports on a request for speed limit reduction in the West Manor neighborhood and on Military West between West Second and First streets and traffic calming requests at three locations as well as striping on East fifth street at St. Dominic’s School.

The panel also will talk about meeting frequency and criteria when it votes on its 2015 meeting schedule.

The Traffic, Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 16, in the Commission Room of City Hall, 250 East L St.
