The red-hot St. Patrick-St. Vincent High baseball team advanced to the North Coast Section Division IV semifinals with a convincing 11-2 victory over host Salesian on Friday in Richmond.
The No. 6 seeded Bruins (11-10), who finished last in the Tri-County Athletic League’s Rock Division during the regular season, dominated No. 3 seed Salesian, champions of the TCAL’s Stone Division. Senior Triston Foley, who pitched five innings and earned the win in SPSV’s 5-4 first-round victory over Berean Christian last Tuesday, threw another five strong innings against the Pride and struck out four to earn the win.
The Bruins hit, clawed and scratched their way to 11 runs, the most for SPSV’s offense in the past eight games. Senior Chris Stinchcomb went 3-for-5 with a game-high five RBIs. Fellow senior Wesley Galloway, promoted from the No. 9 spot in the lineup to No. 2, went 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Sophomore Erick Frank had a pair of hits and three RBIs while senior Danny Elizalde added two hits.
The Bruins will play at Justin-Siena on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the semifinal round.
