Bob Livesay: Benicia is losing an unsung hero

That unsung hero is Sue Fisher Jones.  Sue is retiring as the public affairs/community relations manager for Valero and going home to Oregon. Sue was a very important part of the community of Benicia. She will definitely be missed.
In her position, Sue has been very well-known and respected. As the city manager and staff are doing their best to keep a very strong relationship with Valero, Sue has always been there as a very positive voice.  Sue in her position was the lead person on behalf of Valero in their continued  rewards of grants to many city and area organizations.  Just ask the Community Action Council and Arts Benicia, just to name a few.
Sue loved her job at Valero, but there does come a time to retire and go home to Oregon.  She and her husband are both retiring at the same time.  What a life. I have known Sue for the last eight years.  She is a very valuable friend and trusted pro-Benicia resident. She has been able to keep a very positive attitude and a very  strong belief in this fine town. She did know her stuff.  I personally– along with many other city staff, councilmembers and all the great members of organization in this city– know what an asset she has been to the city of Benicia.  It is about time we give a great shout out to Sue and Valero that they are the reliable  friend of all residents of Benicia.
Sue, I personally wish you and your husband the very best on your move. I know that the city of Benicia will always be in your thoughts.  Best wishes.

Bob Livesay is a Benicia resident.
