BHS tennis tightens its grip on SCAC

Benicia High’s boys tennis team tightened its grip on the Solano County Athletic Conference with a 6-3 victory over host Vanden on Tuesday.

Rajan Bhatia won his No. 1 singles match, 6-2, 6-1, and Nate Tabtab was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at No. 2 singles for the Panthers, who improved to 10-0 in the SCAC and dropped second-place Vanden to 8-2. Anders Knutstad rallied to win his No. 4 singles match, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Benicia swept all three doubles matches. Winning combinations for the Panthers included Andrew Butawan and Emad Abdul-Wajid (6-4, 6-3), Brian Hung and Nick Menjibar (6-1, 7-5), and Katsuya Wako and Christian Chaves (7-6, 7-6).

The Panthers host Fairfield on Thursday.
