Benicia High’s boys tennis team ran its record to 4-0 in the Solano County Athletic Conference after a 9-0 sweep of host Bethel on Tuesday.
Nate Tabtab (No. 1), Rajon Bhatia (No. 2) and Anders Knutstad (No. 3) were each 6-0, 6-0 singles winners for the Panthers. Aidan McAninch cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory in No. 5 singles, and Alexander Valencia was a 6-1, 6-3 winner in No. 4 singles. Emerson Albro held on for a 6-0, 0-6, 7-5 victory in No. 6 singles.
Benicia’s three doubles teams remained unbeaten this season. Andrew Butawan and Emad Abdul-Wajid paired up for a 6-4, 6-4 victory in No. 1 doubles. Brian Hung and Nick Menjibar were 6-1, 6-3 winners a No. 2, and Katsuya Wako and Christian Chaves were 6-4, 6-3 winners at No. 3.
The Panthers, looking for their second SCAC team championship in the past three years, host 2014 SCAC co-champion Vanden on Thursday. The Vikings, who beat fellow co-champion American Canyon 8-1 on Tuesday, swept all three matches from Benicia last season.
