BHS tennis sweeps Wolves

Benicia High’s boys tennis team moved to within two wins of an unbeaten regular season after a 9-0 sweep of host American Canyon last Thursday.

Nate Tabtab rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 victory in No. 1 singles for the Panthers, who improved to 13-0 in the Solano County Athletic Conference. Rajan Bhatia was a 6-0, 6-2 winner in No. 2 singles while Alexander Valencia won at No. 3, 6-4, 6-0.

Other singles winners for Benicia included Anders Knutstad (4-6, 6-3, 6-3), Aiden McAninch (6-0, 6-0) and Emerson Albro (6-0, 6-0).

Andrew Butawan and Emad Abdul-Wajid rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory in No. 1 doubles. Brian Hung and Nick Menjibar were 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 2 while Katsuya Wako and Jason Yoo won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.

Benicia plays at Bethel on Tuesday.
