Benicia High’s boys tennis team won the top five singles matches and all three doubles matches for an 8-1 victory over visiting Bethel on Thursday.
Nate Tabtab was a 6-0, 6-0 winner in No. 2 singles for the Panthers, who improved to 9-0 in the Solano County Athletic Conference. Rajan Bhatia won his No. 1 singles match, 6-0, 6-1, and Anders Knutstad rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 4 singles.
Other singles winners for Benicia included Alexander Valencia (6-3, 6-3) and Aidan McAninch (6-2, 1-6, 6-3). Bethel’s only victory came in No. 3 singles when Benicia’s Emerson Albro was forced to retire in the third set.
Benicia’s Andrew Butawan and Emad Abdul-Wajid had little trouble in their No. 1 doubles match, winning 6-0, 6-1. Brian Hung and Nick Menjibar teamed up for a 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 2 doubles. Katsuya Wako and Jason Yoo were also 6-1, 6-1 winners in No. 3 doubles.
Benicia plays at second-place Vanden (8-1 SCAC) on Tuesday.
