Benicia High’s badminton team didn’t drop a single set during a 15-0 sweep of visiting American Canyon on Thursday.
Anataya Phadungsang was a 24-22, 21-15 winner in No. 1 singles for Benicia, which improved to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the Solano County Athletic Conference. Gabby Traver cruised to a 21-9, 21-4 victory in No. 2 singles and Simone Burdick was a 21-7, 21-5 winner in No. 3 singles.
Other winners on the singles ladder for Benicia included Jeanette Burdick (21-12, 21-10), Maddy Schmeling (21-9, 21-11), Anise Ghandchi (21-11, 21-10), Danielle Lozada (21-13, 21-11) and Jade Fisher (21-6, 21-7).
The Burdick twins paired up for a 21-16, 21-9 victory in No. 1 doubles. Ghandchi and Phadungsang were 21-13, 21-13 winners in No. 2 doubles while Traver and Schmeling won their No. 3 doubles match, 21-15, 21-13.
Other doubles winners for Benicia included Jordan Whiting and Elena Brown at No. 4 (21-13, 21-17), Lozada and Regina Salvador at No. 5 (21-16, 21-7), Elisabeth Miller-Binkley and Alvina Phouasalit at No. 6 (21-15, 21-14) and Fisher and Keialani Rom at No. 7 (21-13, 21-11).
Benicia plays at Vallejo on Tuesday. Vallejo handed Benicia its only SCAC loss back on March 12.
