BHS softball wins three in two days

Benicia High’s varsity softball team won three games in two days by a combined score of 44-1.

The Lady Panthers (18-4, 10-0 Solano County Athletic Conference) beat host American Canyon on Thursday, 14-1. Allie Bullock, Shelby Thompson and Nataschia Wibben each hit homers while Alana Combes and McKenna Gregory each had two doubles. Gregory pitched a complete-game four hitter.

Benicia swept a doubleheader from visiting Vallejo on Friday, winning both games 15-0 in five innings. Brianna Schlattman pitched a one-hit shutout in Game 1. Thompson went 3-for-4 with a home run, four runs and three RBIs while Lindsay Zimmer went 2-for-3 with three runs and a RBI. Wibben and Mallory Barnard each had three RBIs while Adriana Chavez scored three runs.

Victoria Mackey pitched a no-hitter in Game 2 and drove in three runs at the plate. Thompson clubbed two more home runs and drove in four while Chavez went 4-for-4 with three runs.

Benicia plays at Bethel on Tuesday.
