Benicia High’s varsity softball team clinched its fourth straight Solano County Athletic Conference championship with a 4-1 victory at Vanden on Tuesday.

The win gave the Lady Panthers (21-4, 13-0 SCAC) a season sweep of rival Vanden (17-7, 10-3 SCAC). Benicia pitcher McKenna Gregory picked up the win in all three meetings, throwing a two-hitter with six strikeouts in Tuesday’s victory.

Tied 1-1 in the top of the third inning, Benicia rallied for three runs and never relinquished the lead. Shelby Thompson led the Lady Panther offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Thompson now has a team-high seven homers on the season.

Katie Vretzos keyed the third-inning rally with a two-run triple. Allie Bullock had a pair of hits while Nataschia Wibben and Mallory Barnard each scored a run.

The Lady Panthers play at Fairfield on Thursday and conclude the regular season with Senior Day next Tuesday against American Canyon.
