BHS soccer team plays Vanden to scoreless tie

September 17, 2015 by Steve Guertin Leave a Comment

Benicia High’s boys soccer team played visiting Vanden to a scoreless tie at Drolette Stadium on Wednesday night.

The tie snapped Benicia’s three-game winning streak, though the Panthers did notch their fourth straight shutout. All three Wednesday games in the Solano County Athletic Conference finished in a tie, leaving Benicia (1-0-1 SCAC) tied with Vanden and Vallejo for first place.

“I thought we were the better team and put more pressure on them than they did on us,” said Benicia head coach Javier Martinez. “But we got a little fatigued in the final 25 minutes and we couldn’t get anything going.”

Michael O’Leary played the entire game in net for Benicia and recorded the shutout.

The Panthers (3-1-1 overall) don’t play again until next Wednesday at Fairfield.
