BHS golfers win 50th straight SCAC match

March 26, 2015 by Steve Guertin Leave a Comment

Some rough greens at Green Tree Golf Course in Vacaville couldn’t slow down Benicia High’s boys golf team last Thursday.

Nick Flores shot a 2-over-par 38 and birdied two holes as the Panthers beat host Vanden, 204-252. Connor Hatfield added a 40 while teammates Evan Cuenco, Zach McClure and Dustin Sparks each shot a 42.

“The greens had been punched and sanded on Monday, but when our kids figured out the putting greens were like that, they said it was the same greens for everybody and they didn’t let that phase them,” said Benicia golf coach Mike Prolo.

It was the 50th straight SCAC victory for the Panthers (6-0 SCAC), who face Fairfield on Tuesday at Paradise Golf Course.
