BHS girls soccer wins home opener by forfeit

March 26, 2015 by Steve Guertin Leave a Comment

Benicia High’s girls varsity soccer team won its home opener on Thursday without ever having to step foot on the field at Drolette Stadium.

Visiting Fairfield was forced to forfeit due to a lack of players, handing Benicia its first Solano County Athletic Conference victory of the season. Several Fairfield players were suspended after a bench-clearing altercation against Bethel two nights earlier.

“We still haven’t gotten to play on our home turf, but at this point we’ll take a win any way we can get it,” said Benicia head coach Javier Martinez.

Benicia (5-6-1, 1-1-1 SCAC) plays at Bethel on Tuesday and will try again to play at home April 2 against Vallejo.
