BENICIA HIGH’S Alexandra Menjibar-Moore won Wednesday’s girls varsity race.

Following a familiar pattern, Benicia High’s girls varsity cross country team took first place while the varsity boys took second at Wednesday’s Solano County Athletic Conference meet at Hanns Park in Vallejo.

It’s the third time in three SCAC meets that the Lady Panthers have finished first and the Panther boys second. Benicia’s girls won with 23 points on Wednesday, well ahead of Vanden (52) and American Canyon (59). Vanden’s boys (30) finished three points ahead of Benicia (33).

The individual winners are also following a pattern as Benicia’s Alexandra Menjibar-Moore won the girls race for a third straight meet, finishing with a time of 23:54. Luis Ramirez is 2-for-2 after winning the boys race with a time of 18:13. Teammate Daylon Garcia, who won the only boys race not featuring Ramirez, finished second in 18:53.

For the Lady Panthers, Hanna Keala and Rachel Kravitz finished tied for fifth with a time of 24:51. Asha Woodmansee was ninth (25:57), Victoria Kim finished 10th (26:17) and Rayna Fitzgerald was 11th (26:24).

For the Panther boys, Jacob Hoenig was seventh (20:15) and James Hanzel finished 10th (20:35).

Benicia will compete at the Stanford Invitational this Saturday and returns to SCAC competition next Wednesday at Lynch Canyon in Fairfield.
