Benicia High’s badminton team improved to 6-2 on the year after a 12-3 non-league victory over visiting Chavez on Wednesday.
Anataya Phadungsang was a 21-16, 21-14 winner in No. 1 singles for Benicia. Gabby Traver held on for a 23-21, 18-21, 21-17 victory in No. 2 singles. Other singles winners for Benicia included Simone Burdick (21-19, 21-12), Maddy Schmeling (21-10, 21-19), Anise Ghandchi (21-14, 21-8), Danielle Lozada (21-2, 21-2) and Elizabeth Miller-Binkley (21-3, 21-3).
Simone and Jeanette Burdick were 21-15, 21-13 winners in No. 2 doubles. Traver and Keialani Rom won their No. 3 doubles match, 21-15, 21-13. Other doubles winners for Benicia included Lozada and Regina Salvador (21-15, 21-8), Miller-Binkley and Alvina Phouasalit (21-14, 21-19), and Monise Ghandchi and Aranya Phadungsang (21-8, 21-6).
