Silverado District’s Troop 7007 of Benicia is happy to announce its two newest Eagle Scout’s. The Said family is proud to announce that Romey Said and Qaram Said have earned the rank of Eagle, joining their older brother Zayne who earned his in 2015.

Troop 7007 is the oldest troop in Benicia, established in 1917 under the Chartership of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3928, Benicia, California. The troop is currently led by Scoutmaster Tom Stewart.

Romey Said started as a tiger cub in Benicia Pack 7108 12 years ago. He rose through the cub scout ranks to Webelo II earning his Arrow of Light and then crossed over to Troop 7007. He has served as Librarian, Quartermaster, Den Chief, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader and Troop Guide. HIs favorite position is Librarian. His favorite merit badges include first aid, wilderness survival, film, scuba diving and shotgun. Romey’s Eagle project is a working garden, including 7 different vegetables for the Vallejo Masjid and surrounding communities. The produce from the garden is used in preparing food for the Masjid and families in need in the Vallejo, Benicia area.

Romey has been very active in the community through scouting, gymnastics, karate, guitar, soccer, basketball, theater, and water polo. Scouting has prompted his interest in the medical field as well as film editing. He is a lifeguard at our local pool and interned at Mare Island Film. He plans to attend Napa Valley College to enroll in their EMT program after graduating High School.

Qaram Said also started as a tiger cub in Pack 7108 10 years ago working his way through the cub ranks and earning his Arrow of LIght as a Webelo II before crossing over to Troop 7007. Qaram has served as Outdoor Ethics Leader, Asst. Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and Troop Guide. His favorite leadership position was Troop Guide because he enjoys working with the younger scouts. His favorite merit badges are swimming, small boat sailing, rifle shooting, and scuba diving. His Eagle project is redoing the side stairs for the Veterans Hall Post 3928 here in Benicia. This benefited the Vets Hall and the community by creating a safe passage to be able to access the lower part of the building.

Qaram has been active in gymnastics, karate, soccer, theater, basketball, swim team, water polo and piano. Qaram had an “Aha” moment at Camp Wente scout camp which prompted him to want to go into the field of physical therapy. He would like to attend UCSF or SFSU physical therapy program.

Romey finished his project back in January of 2020 and Qaram in February of 2020 but due to COVID-19 and shelter in place the interview process took a little longer than expected. Both scouts completed their boards of review on August 17, 2020 and officially earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Romey and Qaram would like to thank Pacifica Pizza for supplying our hungry scouts throughout both projects. They would also like to thank RSDA for the drafting and blueprints of their projects, Home Depot, Vallejo Masjid and Solano County for all of their generous donations.
