Benicia splits track meet with Vallejo

Benicia High’s varsity track and field teams split their Solano County Athletic Conference meet with visiting Vallejo on Wednesday, with the Lady Panthers winning 66-59 and the Panther boys losing 87-41.

Enid Partika shined for the Lady Panthers in Benicia’s home opener at Drolette Stadium, winning the 800 meters (2:55.34), the 1600 (5:57.13) and the 3200 (13:24). Milyan White won the 100 meters (13.12) and finished second in the 200. Lana Gore took first place in the shot put (26 feet, 6 inches), and third in the long jump (11-6). Taylor Lokey was first in the high jump (4-6), second in the shot put and long jump, and third in the 400 meters. Lauren Thomas won the discus (83-10).

Other standouts for the Lady Panthers included Allison Yip (second in the 800, 1600 and 3200 behind Partika), Karyna Mitchell (second in 300 hurdles, third in hurdles), Elisa Guerrant (second in pole vault) and Deja Carr (third in 800 meters).

Luis Ramirez had the best day for Benicia’s boys, winning the 1600 (5:01.06) and the 3200 (11:45.5) while taking second in the 800. Matthew Larks won the 400 meters (53.38) and took third in the 200.

Other standouts for Benicia’s boys included Joseph Labaria (second in 1600 and 3200), Alexander Curry (second in 300 hurdles), John Kuta (third in 800, 1600 and 3200), Quinthasis Dollar Jr. (third in shot put and discus) and Michael Lavu (third in triple jump).

Benicia will send a contingent to Davis this Saturday for the Woody Wilson Invitational. The Panthers host Bethel next Wednesday.
