“House Hunters” is an HGTV reality series in which prospective home buyers look for new places to live and have to weigh the pros and cons of the three houses they are presented with. They are helped by a real estate agent, and in Monday’s episode which looks at homes in the Napa Valley, the agent happens to call Benicia home.

Stefani Rutledge is a realtor and team leader with RE/Max Gold Napa. She is also a member of the National Association of Realtors, California Association of Realtors and Women’s Council of Realtors, and currently lives in Benicia— where she has resided since 2003— with her 8-year-old daughter. On Labor Day, “House Hunters” viewers across the country will get a chance to see Rutledge in action as she helps a couple find a new home in Napa.

Rutledge says she got a chance to be a part of “House Hunters” through a mutual friend in the real estate field and was called to ask if she wanted to be featured on the show.

“I said ‘Of course. I am all in and will go ahead and do it,’” she said. “I’m really excited, but I’m also nervous about having a show on there, but it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

In the episode, a couple from San Francisco looks to fulfill a dream of buying a second home in the Napa Valley. As enticing as it is to have a home in Wine Country, they soon learn about the challenges of purchasing a home in a pricey region.

“Because it was their second home, they were limited in how much they could spend,” Rutledge said. “They wanted to be in the downtown area and have a place with a cottage feel, and that’s pretty challenging in the current market that we were in because inventory was really low and prices have been going up for a really long time.”

Filming was done in the middle of March, and the episode is set to air at 10 p.m. PST. Rutledge is looking forward to seeing the episode air.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to see it,” she said.
