Staff Report

Benicia Main Street announced the winners for the entries in the annual 4th of July Torchlight Parade. Taking first place in the local float competition was the Benicia Moms Group with its colorful representation of a caterpillar, beating out the respective second and third-place winners Benicia Little League and BDES Portuguese Holy Ghost Society.
The first prize winner in the decorated automobile competition was a business near and dear to the Benicia Herald: the Benicia Herald. The white Cadillac adorned with a Herald banner and patriotic materials remained a favorite at the parade. Circulation Manager Pamela Donohue, who did much of the work on the design, could not be reached for comment Thursday, but we imagine she must have been overjoyed. Second and third place winners in this category were Christina S Fashion Destination and 95.3 KUIC respectively.
