Kirsten Lambinicio, an alumnus of Benicia High School Class of 2019 was recently featured with her friends on Good Morning America on Aug. 11.
“We were selected for this follow-up of the #MickeyFriendsStayTrueFriendship Disney Campaign hosted by @mickeytrueoriginal on Instagram, which was dedicated to friendship and other important relationships in our lives,” she said.
The most remarkable part about these friends, is that they have never met in person. Aya, Kirsten, Bowen, Tessa, Jeremy and Kiara each identify with one of the “sensational six” main characters of Disney. Kirsten identifies with Donald Duck.
“He always just tries and tries again, no matter the frustration that comes along,” she said on GMA. “I really respect Donald for being able to keep going.”
Each of the superfans received a $250 gift card from Shop Disney, and then received a special visit from the one and only Mickey Mouse live on GMA.
“Mind if I join the party?” said Mickey, as the friends reacted in jubilation to the most famous Disney character of them all. “There’s nothing better than having a swell time with your best pals.”
Mickey continued that the fact these friends have never met is inspiring.
“Someone once said that friends who support each other to reach our dreams really are the best,” he said.
While the friends may not be able to attend Disney theme parks due to the pandemic, they are staying closer than ever through the power of the internet and social media.
“We talked about how we met, how our friendship has impacted us, and what it means to be a part of the Disney Community,” said Lambinicio.
