February 18, 2014 by Donna Beth Weilenman Leave a Comment

Tapestry Court Quilts, a long-arm quilting studio that also sells fine fabrics and notions, is open at 252 First St.

The new store will sell fabrics by Loralie and Island Batiks, novelty prints for children and other material.

Classes begin next month and will teach participants how to make a variety of fabric projects, and those interested may register at the store.

A whimsical apron class has been scheduled for March 12; a tote class, March 19; basic sewing, March 26 and April 2; heirloom sewing, April 5; and one-seam pants, April 18 and 24.

Younger teenagers will be welcome at the store’s “spring break” classes.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and starting March 2 the store hours will expand to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays as well.

Those interested may call the store at 707-746-5600.

Downtown Benicia’s annual salon, spa event Feb. 22

Pamper Me First, downtown Benicia’s annual salon, spa and shopping day, will welcome people from throughout the Bay Area from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, said Deborah Meyer, Benicia Main Street event coordinator.

Meyer said the event is “a day of relaxation and shopping,” and called Pamper Me First “a day to discover and sample the latest in beauty, wellness, and fashion from over 20 salons, spas, and shops found in downtown Benicia.”

Visitors and shoppers will find in-store promotions such as demonstrations, samples and mini-treatments, she said.

Directory maps for participating businesses are also available at Benicia Main Street, 90 First St.

Those interested in more information may visit Benicia Main Street’s website, www.BeniciaMainStreet.org.
