Benicia Biz Beat: Bombshell Hair & Ink welcomes new tattoo artist

November 18, 2014 by Donna Beth Weilenman 1 Comment

BRANDI SMART IS THE NEWEST TATTOO ARTIST at Bombshell Hair and Ink, 120 East G St.

“She is a breath of fresh air for our salon, and our customers are already very pleased with her style of tattooing, and her friendly, happy personality,” salon owner Cheri Graf said.

Smart, who has a bachelor’s degree in fine art, has her blood-borne pathogen certification, Graf said. She has been tattooing for five years.

Her specialties are animals, plants and figures, Graf said, and she tattoos both custom work and pre-designed art, called flash. She also provides consultations for bigger pieces.

Smart is a member of Ink Fusion Empire, a group of tattoo artists licensed by LucasFilms and Marvel Comics to tattoo all “Star Wars” and Marvel images. She has participated in comic conventions throughout the U.S. and will be appearing at such conventions as C2E2, Star Wars Celebration, Megacon and Walker Stalker.

Those interested may call 707-748-7950.

Benicia Family Dentistry opens at new location

Dr. Barry Parish, owner of Benicia Family Dentistry, has moved his practice from First Street to 175 East N St. The change involved renovating an abandoned building that formerly housed a television cable company, Parish said.

Kahn Design recommended using an angular addition and large arbor in front to break up the building’s square appearance, and Dr. Michael Unthank, a dentist and specialty architect, designed the interior with a coffee and tea bar and baking bread in the reception area.

Parish, who is starting his 28th year as a Benicia dentist, said the office now has state-of-the-art technology, with lasers, digital radiographs, three-dimensional imagery and the ability to have computer-designed crowns and fillings and air abrasion cavity removal.

“I did love First Street with all of the parades and the farmers market,” Parish said, but after 15 years at his former site parking and access to his building had “become a substantial challenge for our patients.”

Parish is accepting new patients. Those interested may call 707-745-8264.

Sonoma tickets on sale

Sonoma Raceway is selling tickets to its NASCAR, NHRA and IndyCar racing events, said Diana Brennan, senior director of media and community relations.

Those interested can buy tickets for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Sprint Cup series, June 26-28, 2015; NHRA Sonoma Nationals and NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, July 31 to Aug. 2, 2015; and the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma, the Verizon IndyCar Series’s season finale, Aug. 28-30, 2015.

Tickets for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 start at $49 for race day, and camping options and ticket upgrades are available. The 2015 Track Pass, which covers admission to all major events, improved parking, a NASCAR pre-race pit and track pass and Indy-Car garage-pit-prerace pass, as well as an NHRA Thunder Alley pass and other benefits that would cost $1,000 if sold separately, is $379.

Those interested may call 800-870-RACE (7223) or visit racesonoma.com/tickets or ticketmaster.com.

Parish is a con artist. I went to him 4 years ago and he insisted that I needed FIVE fillings. I have been to 2 other dentists since and both have recommended NO fillings. I know two other people in town who have had similar experiences with his office.
