Rock damages truck, diesel fuel spills on Bayshore Road

A vehicle transport truck traveling on Bayshore Road struck a rock that punctured its fuel tank about 4:30 a.m. Monday, resulting in a diesel spill primarily on the roadway, Benicia fire Chief Jim Lydon said.

Police examine Saturday fatality

Woman, 25, killed in solo accident in Benicia suburb Benicia police continue to investigate a one-car fatal accident Saturday that killed the driver, identified as Katrina Martens, 25, of West Sacramento, after her 2000 Honda Accord struck a house in the 500 block of Rose Drive, Lt. Middle of the pack: In annual report, Solano County ranked 31st in overall health

Of California’s 58 counties, Solano was ranked 31st in overall health in a nationwide survey, said Matthew Yi, media specialist for the nonprofit United Health Foundation, which annually publishes “America’s Health Rankings: A Call to Action for Individuals and Their Communities.” That’s a four-spot improvement from the previous year, Yi said.
