Armed man injured in officer shootout

November 15, 2017 by George Johnston Leave a Comment

A 25-year-old armed man was shot and injured by deputies from the Solano County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday evening after he fired a rifle at deputies.
Around 6 p.m. Solano County officers arrived at the home of Chase Wiley on the 700 block of Primrose Lane in to conduct a felony probation compliance check, a normal routine program in Solano County. What the deputies did not expect was Wiley opening fire upon them.
Officers would return fire, striking Wiley once. Life-saving measures were performed on Wiley, and he was transported to a hospital, where he is currently recovering from surgery. No officers were injured during the event.
The three deputies involved with the incident have been placed on administrative leave. The Solano County Officer Involved Shooting Protocol has been activated, and the shooting will be investigated by the Benicia Police Department with assistance from the Solano County District Attorney’s Office and the Solano County Sheriff’s Office.
“If people hear something suspicious like gunfire or anything like that, we suggest they stay indoors and call 911,” Irma Widjojo, a management analyst for the Police Department, said.
