Benicia’s 9/10 all-star team opened its District 53 Tournament with a convincing 14-6 victory over Vallejo National last Saturday in American Canyon.

Benicia (1-0) scored nine times in the first inning and never looked back. David Broom went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs. Myles Cooper also drove in three runs and Peyton Rowles scored three times. Jaden Mason pitched 2 1/3 innings without allowing a hit.

Benicia’s 9/10s take on Sonoma in a winner’s bracket game Tuesday.
