Special Wednesday session scheduled
The Historic Preservation Review Commission will meet in a special session Wednesday to hear a window replacement request that was postponed from its December meeting.
The panel originally expected to hear the request, by applicants Marianne Jamison and Janette Perasso, on Dec. 18.
But the matter was continued because Vice Chairperson Jon Van Landschoot’s home is close to the subject property, meaning he would have had to recuse himself and reduce the number of available commissioners to less than a quorum.
Only Van Landschoot, Maggie Trumbly, Steve McKee and Trevor Macenski were at the meeting. Chairperson Luis Delgado and Commissioners Toni Haughey and Gilbert von Studnitz were absent.
Principal Planner Amy Million has recommended approval of the request, which is to replace an aluminum-clad single-pane window with vinyl-clad dual-pane windows at an apartment building at 155 West I St.
The applicants are seeking design review approval to replace 10 existing aluminum, multi-pane casement windows with vinyl, dual-pane sliding windows in apartments 1 and 4.
They also are asking for retroactive approval for the replacement of eight aluminum multi-pane windows with dual-pane, vinyl-clad windows in apartments 2 and 3, work that was done in 2004.
Million wrote in a report to the commission that the building is not a contributor to the Downtown Historic Conservation District.
“The proposed windows are appropriate for this non-historic building, and more specifically in the contest of the previous window changes made to this building and 165 West I St.,” she wrote.
The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Commission Room of City Hall, 250 East L St.
Old timer says
Staff should be able to approve this. Should not have to go to HPRC. An unnecessary waste of time and property owners money
