In May, four Benicia High School students founded the business We Do Odd Jobs, which consists of doing various odd jobs throughout Solano and Contra Costa counties. It all began with a post on the Facebook group “Benicia Happenings,” and the members have since gotten enough work that people continue to make requests through Facebook and over the phone.
The lineup has changed in recent months but currently consists of senior Jordan Carro, sophomore Armani Johnson, sophomore Chris Weldon, and graduates Caleb Carro and Sam Stevens. The five do just about anything people request of them, including yard work, painting, babysitting, housesitting, petsitting, landscaping, trimming and helping people move.
“People have been using us a lot more for moving,” Weldon said. “We’ve almost become movers.”
With the holiday season fast approaching, We Do Odd Jobs are looking to provide other services in the coming weeks. These include setting up Christmas lights, moving and picking up Christmas trees and assisting with other holiday decorations.
“People can call and tell us what they want to do, and we’re up for that,” Weldon said.
As the holiday season tends to start before Thanksgiving, We Do Odd Jobs is willing to help right away. They accept work throughout Solano and much of Contra Costa counties but place an emphasis on work in Benicia.
“We’re just trying to help serve our community,” Weldon said.
We Do Odd Jobs will be able to assist with holiday-related needs on weekends and weekday afternoons. They can be reached at (682) 308-8241 or through the Facebook page at facebook.com/We-Do-Odd-Jobs.
