A Vallejo mother is seeking help from the public in finding the person or persons responsible for her teenage son’s death by gunfire on Feb. 6. The incident occurred outside in daylight with many people in the immediate vicinity. We received the following letter from Isabelle Reyes this week:
“My son’s life was taken on a Feb. 6, a Saturday morning, at 11:30. The area was on Springs Road and Heartwood, by Sac’s Tasty Hot Dogs. It’s a very busy area. There were Girl Scouts selling cookies in front of the hot dog place, which had a line out the door. Traffic was going both ways on Springs Road. The incident happened in broad daylight with pedestrians everywhere.
I know in my heart that someone saw something and I do have faith that someone will come forward to help get justice. I am asking anyone who knows something or saw something to please help.
As a proud mother of Eric Reyes, who held a 4.0 GPA and held a part-time job, I am asking the public for help. My boy was a good boy. He was a positive member to society. His dreams were taken from him. Our family is destroyed and now I’m left fighting for justice.
My son Eric was in the wrong place at the wrong time when he came across three guys who chased him and took his life. This could happen again to anyone’s child. If we as the public do not come forward, the violence will continue.
Again, please help with any information that will help make an arrest. Please contact Vallejo Police Detective Jason at 648-3463 or Detective Rob at 648-4280.”
Reyes told the Herald this week that three people chased her son by car before fatally shooting him. She added that Eric was a model student and held a job at Kohl’s in Vallejo. He was 18 years old. She also said that the Vallejo police had not yet found a connection between the suspected attackers and the victim.
The Herald urges anyone with information about the incident to contact the Vallejo Police Department, as requested by the victim’s mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
