School Board Turns Down Offer For Schoolhouse (Jan. 21, 1943)
The proposed solution to Benicia’s school housing program in sending old WPA warehouses made from ply board from Los Angeles to be used for class rooms for Benicia school children was definitely turned down Tuesday night at a meeting of the school board and Principal J.H. Henderson authorized to send a telegram to the effect of Ward Felt, representative of the Los Angeles office of Federal Works Agency.
Recently, Mr. Henderson went to Los Angeles to confer with Ward Felt and to investigate the proposed plan. At his request, Mr. Willits, engineer in the State Division of Architecture, was present at the conference.
Willits, who checks on fire and earthquake hazards, was present at the board meeting Tuesday night and stated that the proposed buildings would be worse than nothing, since they were inadequate in any way to meet the needs of school rooms.
Present at the meeting also was A. Weeks, architect, who has already submitted plans..

Benicia Will Continue In Library Setup (Jan. 18, 1968)
The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night in adopting a resolution stating that Benicia does not wish to withdraw from th Solano County library system at this time. As part of the same resolution as introduced by Councilman James Lemos, the mayor and city clerk were authorized to execute a renewal agreement with the county. The council acted after receipt of a letter from Mrs. Frieda Lundin, chairman of the library board of trustees, urging that the city remain in the system for the present.
City Attorney John A. Bohn said that by not giving notice of withdrawal at this time, the net effect of Tuesday night’s action would be that the contract would remain in effect to June 30, `969.
Mrs. Lundin, who was present, said the trustees were aware of this fact.

Council will review Sky resolution (Jan. 19, 1993)
With some uncertainty as to exactly what they voted on, city councilmen Tuesday will discuss a resolution passed two weeks ago that put Sky Valley on the Nov. 2 ballot.
Councilmen Pepe Arteaga and Jerry Hayes have asked that the final version of the resolution be put on tonight’s agenda to review exactly what the City Council approved, and to strengthen the city’s assurance that the International technology Co.’s hazardous waste facility will pose no health threats to the proposed housing development.
The council meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
