The Lady Bruins opened pool play with a 26-24, 25-15 victory over Pittsburg but went on to lose to Newark Memorial, 25-20, 25-22. Despite winning the third pool match over Livermore, 25-14, 25-18, SPSV finished third in its pool and was dropped to the consolation bracket.
Malia Bolko had seven aces and teammates Julia Kistner and Shaina Snyder each had four aces in a 25-14, 25-27, 15-10 victory over Alhambra. SPSV ended up losing to California High in the consolation finals, 26-24, 23-25, 15-11.
“It wasn’t the best, but considering we played all Division I schools, I think we did pretty well,” said SPSV head coach Danette Domecus.
