If you pay Solano County taxes, Charles Lomeli has an app for you.
Lomeli is Solano County’s treasurer, tax collector and county clerk, and his office launched a new mobile device application that he said will give local taxpayers greater flexibility in viewing, monitoring and paying their tax bills.
“It’s clear that our customers want more options when it comes to accessing the services we provide,” Lomeli said.
“By adding mobile support solutions to our existing list of services we significantly enhance the user experience, all while maintaining strict spending limits.”
The new application is one of several investments in mobile support solutions and other technologies the department has made in the past years, Lomeli said.
Multilingual kiosks in the County Clerk lobby give speakers of languages other than English the ability to access and complete marriage licenses, fictitious business name statements and non-court-related public records without having to wait in line, he said.
His department also has a digital records retention system that improves the efficiency of retrieval as well as saving long-term storage costs.
Quick-read (QR) codes on printed bills allow taxpayers to obtain a digital copy of their bill and to pay it with a credit or debit card or electronic check, he said.
The upgrades will continue, Lomeli promised.
“When it comes to technology improvements, we’re just getting started,” he said. “We look forward to bringing forward a series of new customer applications, including multilingual support for tax information and enhanced paperless billing options, just to name a few.”
