A vehicle transport truck traveling on Bayshore Road struck a rock that punctured its fuel tank about 4:30 a.m. Monday, resulting in a diesel spill primarily on the roadway, Benicia fire Chief Jim Lydon said.
Lydon estimated about 40 gallons of fuel spilled, primarily on the roadway, though some may have gotten into a nearby storm drain.
“We made the necessary notifications,” he said.
Solano County’s Department of Resource Management took charge of the cleanup and mitigation, he said.
