■ Stockton man, staying in resident’s home, accused in Monday sexual assault
Benicia police have arrested a 39-year-old Stockton man and accused him of raping a 47-year-old woman who had let him stay at her home in the 300 block of Columbia Circle, Lt. Mike Greene said Tuesday.Mou Moua was arrested Monday in Stockton and taken to Solano County Jail, Fairfield.
Officers were sent to the woman’s home at 4:05 a.m. Monday after she reported the assault, Greene said.
She told officers she was an acquaintance of Moua, whom she had let stay in the front area of her home while she slept alone in her bedroom. But about 3 a.m. Monday, she awoke to find the man on top of her, Greene said.
Moua threatened her with a knife, then raped her and held her against her will in the bedroom, Greene said. She suffered undisclosed injuries, he said.
The assailant later left the house and drove off in the woman’s vehicle, Greene said.
He said though police searched the area, Moua apparently had left; while detectives continued the local search, descriptions of the man and the vehicle were sent to other law enforcement agencies.
Detectives learned that the man had been treated at a hospital for minor injuries he received during the assault, and that he had gone to Stockton, Greene said.
They contacted Stockton police, who found Moua and the vehicle in a shopping center, where he was taken into custody without incident, Greene said.
Benicia detectives arrived in Stockton and took over custody of Moua, who has no identifiable address in Stockton, Greene said.
Moua was booked into Solano County Jail and charged with rape, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and vehicle theft.
“He is also wanted in the state of Georgia on charges of murder and kidnapping,” Greene said. That warrant was issued by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, he said, but “Benicia Police Department doesn’t have details related to the crimes committed by Moua in Jackson County.”
Greene said because of the sensitive nature of the investigation, no additional information about the woman or her injuries would be released.
“Moua is obviously a dangerous individual,” he said. “Through the excellent investigative efforts by our detective unit, Moua was quickly taken into custody before he was able to harm others.”
