Following an accident almost two weeks ago that led to it being temporarily closed, Rosanna’s European Delights is open again and just in time for Benicia’s First Sunday Poetry Series in April.
On the evening of Thursday, March 9, a vehicle had crashed into the side of the First Street bakery and struck a gas meter which then leaked uncontrollably. The 300 block of First Street was closed off, and businesses and residents in close proximity to the accident were evacuated. Rosanna’s itself had to close for a few days while the side of the building was being repaired. It is now back in business, and the Benicia First Tuesday Poetry Group is prepared to resume its monthly poetry reading on Sunday, April 2.
The featured poet will be Jeanette DesBoines, a creative writing coach and art advocate, who has written three books: a free write diary and workbook titled “Storm;” “Disaster Revisited,” which examines cold cases throughout history and a short story collection titled “Flashbacks!” All her books are available on Amazon.
Per usual, the event will feature poetry and pastries to create a satisfying Sunday afternoon.
The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday April 2 at Rosanna’s, located at 305 First St. For more information, email Poet Laureate Johanna Ely at jelyabc13@yahoo.com. Rosanna’s is open from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and closed on Mondays.
