Out on the branches
of a thin limb,
caught between the
holidays and rain,
nobody wants to be
doing home repairs now,
everyone’s focused on
buying presents and making
their best holiday gravy.
“Make a rue,” says my one
brother to another
on the land line phone at Nana-Mom’s
while brother #3 is out of town,
in Truckee this time of year,
where it’s snowing and
he comes home after
being Merry and says,
“I know what it feels like
to be 1 degree.”
While a bad bearing
in my truck’s rearend
laments to me about
having 141,188 miles
under its belt,
100,000 in the last six years.
The Tan Pony goes in
for repairs tomorrow
which is now today.
