She would scorn me if she knew,
That I mourn, but oh, I do.
And I cried on day she died.
Because she left me before I was ready.
For us, it was love at first sight;
Altogether, she was a beautiful person;
The most gentle woman
I have ever met, and yet—–
She left me before I was ready.
Now, once again, the world closes in on me—-
And one is left with but memories; Thank God for memories.
Yet why should I be surprised.
From the first moment we met, and then through the years—-
I figured it would end like this. It always does,
In a love affair.
The above poem was written following the loss of Light’s mother-in-law.
