Former associates of physical education teacher Ron Garcia (center), who retired after 32 years at Benicia Middle School, lined up at the doors in the BMS gym on the last day of school Friday to throw a surprise party for Garcia. After Garcia walked through two lines of former students, colleagues and friends, he went over to a throne where P.E. department head Yvette Brown led him in a game of “This is Your Life.” As longtime mentors, family, friends and co-workers stood behind a wall, Garcia had to guess who they were based on their voices and hints. A plaque was also dedicated to Garcia and former woodworking teacher Jamie Calderwood above the gym’s rock climbing wall, which both of them helped fund and build more than 20 years ago.
