The Benicia Fire Department honored the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack Monday on the 16th anniversary. The memorial at City Park has become an annual tradition for the Fire Department. The flags were in place from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., as the community was invited to honor and reflect upon all who died in the attacks that day. Lloyd Christiansen played bagpipes at 6 p.m., and a boot was set up for people to donate to the Widow and Orphans Fund. (Photo by George Johnston)
