(Left to right) Fifth-graders Brady Boe, Delilah Rippee and Jordan Stenmark argue for the sale of chocolate milk in school cafeterias in a debate at Joe Henderson Elementary School. The fifth-grade class argued the pros and cons of the topic. Those in favor of selling chocolate milk in schools cited the beverage’s high amount of calcium and potassium, the building of strong muscles and the high percentage of vitamins. Those against it noted the high sugar content of chocolate milk and the deceptive advertising used to market it. Present during the debates were members of Benicia High School’s Debate Club who delivered feedback to the fifth-graders at the end. (Photo by Nick Sestanovich)
