The Pittsburg-based animal rescue agency Umbrella of Hope was one of several Northern California animal welfare organizations taking part in Bissell Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” event on Saturday. Umbrella of Hope chose to host its event at Pups ‘N’ Purrz, which saw large crowds and received extensive media coverage, including from San Francisco classic hits station iHeart80s. Two animals were successfully adopted out: a 4-month-old kitten named Freija and a 2-year-old Maltese/poodle mix named Minmi Dinosaur, whose leg was amputated following a car accident. Minmi was adopted by the Bob and Bonnie Padilla of Santa Clara (Pictured above). Bob Padilla, who also had his leg amputated three years ago, remarked in a video posted to Pups ‘N’ Purrz’s Facebook page that Minmi looked just like his family’s dog that recently passed away. “She’s very sweet,” he said.
