Peter Bray: Survival Squirrel…

July 15, 2016 by Peter Bray Leave a Comment

Not yet 8 a.m.
and I’ve already
e-mailed crisis help
to a friend in Hawaii
in need of meditation
and a case manager,
told a phone caller, “No,
I don’t do ceiling leaks,”
and another e-mail
to a customer,
“Yes, I can install
your Video Doorbell,
I did one in Benicia
two weeks ago.
I’ll do a Google search tonight.”
Then fed the cats
and looked outside.
Our survival squirrel
is eating breakfast upside down,
hugging the birdfeeder
that I filled 2 nights ago.
All this on a Wednesday
morning at age 73.
Siddhartha still works
down by the river helping
people across.
Everybody’s a survival squirrel
sooner or later.
Time for my own breakfast
and take a break,
Handyman.
