The Benicia Oldtimers baseball team split a doubleheader against visiting Tracy last Sunday, losing the first game, 9-7, but winning the second game, 9-7.
Rick Silva went the distance for Benicia in the opener, allowing nine runs on 12 hits with five strikeouts.Marko Santos and Bruce Zimmer each had three hits in the game while teammate Rich Reza and Jarrod Sproul each had two.
Tracy jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning of Game 2, but the Oldtimers managed to tie the game by the third inning. Tracy again led 7-5 in the fifth, but an RBI double by Zimmer, an RBI single by Sproul and RBI hits from Reza and Lou Kosta put Benicia ahead for good.
Reza went five innings, allowing seven runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Zimmer went the final two innings and allowed no runs on two hits with a strikeout. Reza had three hits in the game and Sproul added two.
Benicia (13-6) hosts San Leandro this Sunday beginning at noon.
