Eighteen hours before the grand opening of Juice House Co., sisters Tiana and Kelsea Duvauchelle were busy juicing fruits and vegetables. This was the moment they had waited for and wanted to make sure that when customers came into Juice House Co., the shelves would have a full stock of selection. With hope in their hearts and work on the mind, the Duvauchelles officially opened the doors of Juice House Co. to Benicia yesterday.
Located at 611 First St., Juice House Co. offers customers the chance to try cold-pressed organic juices made in Benicia. The juices are all non-pasteurized and have creative names like Gecko’s Echo, Popeye Power, Hulk, and Green Mary. The juices use ingredients like kale, ginger, cilantro, turmeric and even cayenne pepper. However, the business serves more than just juice. Moschetti Coffee, kombucha, vegan cupcakes and elixirs are also on the menu .
The juice bar is an offshoot of the Yoga House, which Tiana also operates. The idea for opening a juice bar began to germinate for Tiana after years of juicing with her sister. Tiana had been looking to extend the positive elements she thinks the Yoga House gives and, like the mixture of peanut and chocolate, decided to blend the idea of opening a store that combined familiar hobbies with vivacious ideology.
Once the idea to open the juice bar planted roots and began growing, Tiana and Kelsea started working their dream into a reality. Kelsea moved from Hawaii, and the search for the perfect spot to open the Juice House Co was on. Tiana thought Benicia would be perfect because her husband grew up in the city and both consider it home. Finding a location downtown would be perfect, Tiana thought, and serendipity allowed the Duvauchelle sisters a location on First Street. They built a work kitchen in the Industrial Park, rolled up their sleeves and got to work.
Like all new eateries, Juice House Co. had a soft launch before the grand opening. Tiana sent a push notification to all her followers on social media and at the Yoga House about the soft opening. She said it was a smash success, with the Juice House selling out of stock in two days.
“You know work so hard and put so much time, love, effort, everything, heart and soul into it and that reward of seeing people drink it, smile, and want to come back, all that was worth; seeing everyone’s enthusiasm and excitement,” Tiana said. “They were just filled with that energy, that food energy of the love we put into it. You could feel it in them and see it in them and we were able to feed off of that.”
For now. it will just be the Duvauchelle sisters operating Juice House Co., but there are plans to start hiring staff once the juice bar has found its legs and started running.
Juice House Co. is open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. More information can be found at https://www.juicehouseco.com/.
