Solano County has a new executive director for First 5 Solano, Matthew Davis, public communications officer, said. Michele Harris will begin her new role Nov. 10, he said.

First 5 Solano is an agency that provides support to improve lives of young children and their families, focusing particularly on the first five years of a child’s life.

“We are excited about Michele returning to take the leadership of First 5 Solano,” County Administrator Birgitta Corsello said.

Harris is vice president of operations and finance for the Children’s Nurturing Project in Fairfield, and former deputy director of First 5 Solano for nearly 10 years, Davis said.

As the First 5 Solano executive director, Harris will oversee a budget of about $7.8 million, including nearly 40 contracts that provide services to children and their families, Davis said.
