Local mystery author David Corbett will stop by the Benicia Public Library in the September to promote his new book “The Long-Lost Letters of Doc Holliday.”
Corbett’s book is about the reappearance of the most notorious love letters in American history, which were previously thought to have been destroyed more than a century ago. Arts lawyer Lisa Balamaro becomes involved with former art forger Tuck Mercer, who is now an expert in artifacts of the Old West, Eventually, Mercer gains possession of the letters between famed gunslinger Doc Holliday and his cousin and childhood sweetheart Mattie— who would later become Sister Mary Melanie of the Sisters of Mercy.
Corbett’s previous works include “The Devil’s Redhead,” “Done for a Dime,” “Night the Devil Prayed” and “Darkness Fell.” His articles on writing have been featured in the New York Times and Narrative Magazine, among other publications.
Corbett will be speaking at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 in the Dona Benicia Room of the Benicia Public Library, located at 150 East L St. He will be available for autographs, and Bookshop Benicia will be on hand to sell books. This event is free and open to the public.
