The man responsible for the shooting of two customers at Bottom of the Fifth Sports Bar and Grill was found guilty Friday.
Daniel Lopez. a transient from Vallejo, walked into Bottom of the Fifth on Nov. 26, 2016. Lopez tried to order a drink, but was rejected after last call was initiated. He took out a semi-automatic firearm and threatened several patrons of the bar. Lopez would shoot two people who tried to subdue him. One of the men was shot in the head and the other was shot in the arm. Both were rushed to the hospital. The two men, Jeff Ainsworth and Doug Everhart were later honored by the police department for their bravery.
Police first responded to 911 calls of a man armed with a handgun at 1:30 a.m. and then heard reports of shots being fired. They soon blocked off the area and began their investigation. Video footage and witness accounts of the incidences aided police in identifying Lopez. An arrest warrant was issued for Lopez, and police would find him sitting in his car two hours later in Vallejo. Lopez was booked into Solano County Jail on charges of attempted homicide, assault with a firearm and three counts of brandishing a firearm. Detective Jeff Harris of the Benicia Police Department investigated the case.
Deputy District Attorney Leo P. Mangoba prosecuted Lopez’s case. Lopez was found guilty of two counts of attempted first degree murder, three counts of assault with a firearm and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Lopez will return to court Wednesday where a trial will a sentencing date will be scheduled.

This happened 8 months ago the man has had his trial and now is convicted. I would say the wheels of justice moved pretty fast in this case. Good job to all involved in helping to put him away.
