The Benicia Public Library’s Marilyn O’Rourke Gallery is accepting applications for its 2019 schedule of exhibitions, according to a news release by the library. Applications are open to all artists, and the deadline is Sept. 28.
Applications and information about the exhibits are available on the library’s website at benicialibrary.org/gallery/submissions. Applications should be mailed to or dropped off at the library, located at 150 East L St. For more information, contact Helanie Bowles, library administrative secretary, at hbowles@ci.benicia.ca.us or 746-4358.
“We are very excited about our new season and are looking forward to receiving some great submissions,” Martha Christopher, chair of the library’s Art Gallery Committee, said in a statement.
Also on the topic of the Art Gallery Committee, the board is seeking new members for its committee. The Art Gallery Committee is a subcommittee of the Board of Library Trustees. The committee will select six to nine artists to display their work in the gallery throughout 2019. Selected exhibits will be between five and seven weeks in length.
Per the news release, “approximately 600 people pass through the Library each day. Many artists choose to hold a reception highlighting their work in the gallery.”
The committee selects artists to display their work in the gallery and to act as a liaison to one or more exhibits. The committee meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Monday of the month at the library. There are no meetings in June, July, August and December.
