Sickening attacks on Jewish cemeteries
This is a call to action to my fellow citizens of Benicia, whom I know to be people of good will.
I was sickened to learn of the most recent attack on a Jewish cemetery, this time in Philadelphia. So soon after a similar attack in Missouri, I felt I had to do something, anything.
So, I just made a small donation to the Anti-Defamation League whose mission is to fight anti-Semitism in all its cruel variety. Feeling sad is a normal reaction to this tragedy– actually doing something felt a bit healing.
I am not Jewish, but today I hold hands with my friends and associates who are Jewish– in solidarity that this must be stopped, that the perpetrators must be caught and held responsible.
Anyone with a knowledge of history realizes that two events of this magnitude don’t happen in a vacuum.
I reached out by email to all my non-Benicia friends, and this is my opportunity to reach my friends in Benicia.

Young does his homework
I watched the City Council meeting on Feb. 21 and really appreciated how prepared Councilmember Steve Young was. He has just been on the council a short time, and I could tell that he was studying the staff’s work and the budget and asking questions on very pertinent issues. I appreciate it when councilmembers ask questions at the meeting. It gives someone who is watching from home more insight into what they are looking at and possible issues.
Keep up the good work, Councilmember Young. You were elected because the people of Benicia knew you would do your homework, and you are showing us that we were right.
