A memorial bench was installed by the water near West 3rd Street in honor of Rosie Switzer. Switzer, who died in November 2015, served Benicia Unified School District for 46 years, first as a teacher at three different schools and then as a school board trustee and president. Remembering Rosie Switzer
Rosie Switzer died on Nov. 29, 2015. She was a native Benician who taught in the Benicia schools for 35 years.
After teaching, Rosie served on the Benicia Unified School District board for 10 years until her sudden death at the age of 69.
Her family would like to take a moment to thank her many wonderful friends who came to her funeral. Our Benicia community has done an amazing job of helping her family get through this very difficult year.
I particularly wants to thank the 100 teachers, led by Becky Ross, who installed a park bench and plaque by the Carquinez Strait near our home.
Each day when I walk my dog to the bench, I not only remember the love of my life, but also our many friends who have helped our family survive this tragedy.
Alan Switzer,
Benicia
Thank you and God bless you for publishing
the “Letters to the Editor” titled
“Remembering Rosie Switzer”.
This is an example of the Benicia Herald’s
valuable contribution to our small town.
Sincerely,
Alan Switzer
