Museum’s ‘White Camel’ sale a success
The Museum’s “White Camel” sale was this past Sunday, July 15, and it was a wonderful event! We netted a tidy sum for programs and operating expenses and the event also attracted over 500 attendees from all over the Bay Area, including many new visitors to the Museum who weren’t aware of the Museum’s existence.
We would like to thank the dozens of people who were so generous with their donated items to the Museum tables, and the board members, volunteers and other community folks who gathered and delivered goods, sorted and priced them, and then manned the hot dog grilling station, the cashier’s desk, and the Museum gift shop – not forgetting those who installed the event music and gave tours.
Our thanks also to the community for supporting us by coming to buy and to those who came back after the sale to sort and box up leftover food and goods that were then regifted to Genesis House, the Kyle Hyland Teen Center, the Humane Society, the Library, the Vallejo Senior Center, and Goodwill.
New board members Deb Machado and Penny Stell deserve special mention for spearheading this event and working nonstop to make it a success.
Special thanks to our sponsors Republic Services, Hamann Real Estate, Starbucks and Daily Donut. The Museum will be adding an annual Christmas Market with special holiday items and handcrafted goods scheduled for Dec. 1 and 2, as an added attraction to our annual Christmas tree lot – please put it on your calendars and contact the Museum for more information.
Thanks again to all concerned – you’re amazing!

Benicia Historical Museum executive director
